Gal game review #1

Hey everyone! My name is Otakuyama! It has been a while since the last time I actually blogged, nowadays I have been playing quite a few of videos games and started watching animes and became an otaku without myself knowing XP.

So anyway, today I will be looking at this gal game(sims dating game) named Creature to Koi ni Shiyo! Kokonoe Kokoro. It was a sims dating game by the company Nostalgic that was only available on PC, which was released in Japan at 2006. After getting lot's of feedbacks, It announced an otome version, yet the date of it's released is yet to be known(or so I thought, because I can't find any source material of it for some reason). Translating from it's name, Creature to Koi ni Shiyo, it means Let's date a creature! Now before diving into this, many of you may started to be thinking,'Is this guy having some kinda weird fetish or something?' Nope, I just want to see how did the main character actually date a creature instead of me. Oh, and spoilers alert!

I will be breaking this review down in 4 different point of view: story, character, visuals, and sounds & music. For this case I'm putting the story at the end because it carries the most main points. Starting off with the characters, we have the protagonist, Kokonoe Kokoro, the female protagonist, Masato, the protagonist's best friend, Itsumi, the protagonist's sister, and the homeroom teacher(which is not important at all, he's here just because he's here.... that's all). Noted that the title itself said "CREATURE", which means these characters are all monsters(except for the protagonist, AND FOR SOME REASON THAT HE IS THE ONLY HUMAN IN THE WORLD). Kokonoe is a humanoid grasshoper(Yes, you read it.) who/which is the protagonist's childhood friend that has been in love with him since child. Masato is a demon looking guy (which probably resembles him as someone violent or a yankee I guess) who happens to be the protagonist's best friend. He's always there whenever the protagonist needs him and guides him. Itsumi, the sister is a vampire bat! Well, there's not much of an explanation for her cuz, it's his sister.(And no, he did not fuck his sister. No incest in this sim dating game) The character developments in this game isn't much, it straight forwards and only focus into the stories only. The only character that really gets a development is the female protagonist Kokoro.

Move on to the visual of the game. Overall, I like the art concept of it. It looks very detailed and it was able to capture the emotions of the characters and the surroundings. It wasn't bad, nor it was good, just average. Next, the soundtracks, the music is surprisingly good! It was relaxing and it captures the pace of it. Basically what I'm trying to say is that there is nothing wrong with the characters, visuals, as well as the soundtrack. I might actually have a chance to give this game a pretty high score, but everything changes when the plot comes in.

(Kokonoe Kokoro swimsuit scene)

The story is full of clichés. You are basically watching a slice of life anime where people goes to school and talks about their stuffs and blah blah blah, then falls in love.... Yay! The only differences is, the characters are not human except for you the protagonist. Also the funny thing is that, they didn't explain why are you the only human in this universe or why are these people aren't people? The 'services' is rather average, it contains a swimsuit scene and a undressing scene which Kokoro is about to go to take a bath and the protagonist accidentally saw it and scolds "BAKA! SAITE!" to him for accidentally peeping her.(CLICHÉ!) At the begging of the story, it was fine. They went for a 'date', a.k.a dinner and shopping, went to school and talks about studies and future, and also peeping your crush wearing a swimsuit with your besties! At the climax of the story, they found out that both of them will be separating each other after finishing school because the protagonist wants to be a dick and study in Tokyo! Then they both had a quarrel, the quarrel didn't last really long . Just that in the end the female protagonist kinda tried to avoid him. Then Masato comes in and started a fight with the protagonist. Somthing like this:

Masato: "What have you done to her?"
"I haven't done anything yet to her!"
Masato: "Then why did you make her cry?"
"How dafuq am I suppose to know?"
Masato: "Then answer me, do you love her or not?"

"- Yes, I love her.
  - I don't know.
  - I hate her!"

^ This above are the options that it gave me towards the ending. Well, as a guy who likes romance story, I would definitely choose the first choice. And I did, the protagonist and Masato first had a tough fight and then went to the most cliché place ever to make a confession to her, the rooftop.(CLICHÉ PART 2)He confessed to her his feelings and they kissed! Yay!Happy Ending! Although the kissing scene kinda gross me out... ~_~

(The kiss scene)

But then I thought, since I am making a review of it, why not I tried the other two ending?(Notice this, these are the only options that it gave me for the entire game, basically it has only 1 route which explains why there isn't any BL scene or incest in this game, so sorry fujoshis out there, please just wait for the otome version one to be out!)
Anyway, these are the other two ending.

Option 2: "I don't know"
Masato: "What do you mean by you don't know? MAKE UP YOUR MIND YOU DICKHEADED DENSE FUCK!"
*Masato kills the protagonis*
*Bad end*
My thought: That's escalated real quick! Let's try the other one!"

Options 3: "No! I don't love her! In fact, I hate her! I hate all of you damn dirty creatures!"
Masato:"You heard him?!"
Protagonist looks at Kokoro.
Screen is flashing red.
"Kokoro?"
*Kokoro snaps and went insane and killed him.*
*Bad End*
My thought: Argh! For fuck sake!

Anyway, this is my review of the game Creature to Koi shiyo! Kokonoe Kokoro, these are just my opinions, I may be right and I may be wrong. My final conclusion of it is that it can be a masterpiece, if they put in a little bit more effort in to it. FYI, it took me less than 30 minute to finish the whole game including all three of the endings. In the scale of 10, I rate 4.5, if you find this interesting, go on and try. Even if I were to not recommend it to you, in the end you are still going to look for its source material aren't you?   \(=3=)/
That's all for it, and hopefully you guys can see me sometime again! Sayonara, shoshite arigatou gozaimasu!

*** In addition, this is the otome version of the Creature to Koi shiyo!
